About Søren

Inspiration

Philosophy

It all started through sibling rivalry, both Soren’s brother and sister played which got him in to the game at a very early age. From there it moved on to watching the highlights of the Majors with his brother in the local cinema and the final piece of inspiration was walking, whilst representing the Danish junior golf team in France, the final 18 holes at the French Open to watch Nick Faldo. Being that close to the top players convinced him he wanted some of that fantastic atmosphere that goes with it. His first taste of stardom was representing Denmark in the Eisenhower Trophy in the early 90’s.Turned Pro in 1995, qualified for the European Tour via the Challenge Tour in 1997 and has been on tour ever since.

He recorded his first European Tour victory at Gleneagles in 2003 He won in Spain at the Volvo Masters in 2008, which propelled him into 47th place in the World rankings and a top 10 finish that year in the European Tour Order of merit. He continued his love affair with Spain by winning the Open de Andalucía in 2009 before recording his best finish in a Major –sixth at the US PGA. 2009 was a great summer seeing him climb to 31st in the OWGR Has recorded a further 38 top ten finishes on the PGA European Tour outside of his victories. Has played in 5 World Cups, the Seve Trophy 2009, and was part of the winning Royal Trophy team in 2010.

Away from golf:

Away from golf I love spending time with my family. Travelling 200+ days a year is tough when you have kids. When I’m home I have a lot of catching up to do. We love playing golf round the par 3 course at Wentworth, we go swimming, we go to the movies and if we are lucky we might catch a home game at Stamford Bridge!

My days at home is normally like: taking the kids to school, do my work at Queenwood, pick them up at school, have some fun in the afternoon and then back and prepare a nice meal maybe with a few friends over eating Charlottes lovely food.

One day I will learn to cook but so far I have only managed to buy all the right books but that doesn’t put food on the table right!

A big surprise for most people is that I love Rap music and Hip Hop.... My car has only got like really cool stuff in it like Cypress Hill, Run DMC, Eminem....

I probably don’t look like a guy that would like that but honestly I really do!

My biggest problem is all the swearing in my music and you can imagine the kids on school run going "but daddy you are not allowed to use those words are you?"

Capital radio my friends, solves all the problems!.....but on the way back that base is pumping!

I follow a few sports as well.....I love tennis and basketball and living in the UK you have to follow football as well so we are quite big Chelsea supporters.

I love to watch Roger Federer hit that one handed backhand down the line so one of my goals is soon to get a seat at Wimbledon. Another brilliant thing about being world traveller is I get to a few NBA games in America every year. When we play Doral near Miami I always try to get seats at Miami Heat. Watching Dwayne Wade do slams beats most things in sports!

So overall I just like to be around the family and follow a bit of sport I bet a few of you can relate to that right?
